About Fresnel Zones

What is a Fresnel Zone? The Fresnel Zone is an elliptical area around the visual line-of-sight path between two antennas. Radio waves spread out as they travel, and this zone represents the area where those waves can interfere constructively or destructively.

Why is it important? For optimal RF link performance, at least 60% of the first Fresnel Zone should be clear of obstructions (buildings, trees, terrain). This calculator helps you determine the required clearance radius at the midpoint of your wireless link.

How to use: Enter your operating frequency and the total distance between antennas. The calculator will show you the radius of the Fresnel Zone at its widest point (the center of the link).
